Which areas can be treated?
ProWave can remove hair from all parts of the body, including the face, legs, arms, underarms, and back, as well as sensitive areas like the chest, nipples and bikini line.
How does the treatment work?
Each hair grows at a different rate, going through three distinct phases: growth, regression and resting. IPL works by disabling the hair that is in the active growth phase at the time of treatment. Because other hairs will enter this active phase at different times, additional treatments may be required.
How many treatments will I need?
Most areas require 5-10 treatments. The number of treatments required for optimal long-term benefits depends on multiple factors – hair thickness, area treated, hair growth cycle etc.
What does treatment feel like?
When the pulse of light is delivered, some patients experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation. No local anaesthesia or pain medication is typically required, however patients may choose to apply a topical anaesthetic when treating sensitive areas.
What happens after?
The treated area may appear red and swollen immediately after your appointment. 3-7 after this, you may experience hair regrowth. Don’t panic – most of these hairs are actually being shed, not growing back. You may shave between treatments, but do not wax or pluck the hair.
Is my daily activity restricted?
You can return to all normal activities right after treatment – though some redness may occur. If any areas will be exposed to the sun, apply sunscreen. Your physician may recommend a specially formulated skin scare product or regimen formulated for your skin type.
Are there side effects?
Though patients experience few side effects, slight reddening and local swelling seem to be most common. The effects typically last several hours or less. In rare instances blistering may occur. If concerned, consult your medical professional for complete information on risks and benefits.
